THE ORIGINAL STARTIME’S POWERFUL SPONSORSHIP THROUGH THE YEARS

With such an outstanding track record, it is no surprise that over the years the multi award-winning Original Startime series of vintage concerts has been able to attract the support and involvement of an impressive array of sponsoring companies and organizations.

It all started with Heineken Beer who were title sponsors  for the first 18 years (1988- 2006). Then there was CVM TV who came on  board in 1996 to commence a relationship with MKB and the entertainment industry in general, which has grown into the enviable place they now hold as one of the frontrunners in entertainment TV; followed by Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum and Stone’s Ginger Wine.

Media sponsorship in the form of  reduced advertising rates and promotional support, first came from JBC Radio 2 later becoming Radio 92FM and now Hitz 92FM; and expanded to include IRIE FM, Fame 95FM, Hot 102FM, Kool 97FM, On Stage TV, Creative Production & Training Centre (CPTC), the Gleaner, the Jamaica Observer, the Xtra News, North Coast Times, and Mystic 1580AM, a once-popular station among  South Florida-based Jamaicans.

Other sponsors over the years included Air Jamaica, Kosmo Car Rental and Tours, COK Credit Union, Christar Villas Hotel, Sportsmax TV, Jamrock Sports Bar & Grill, 925 Jerk, Juici Patties, Hot Pot Restaurant, Pepsi, Ting, Happy Ice, Securipro, Interlinc Communications, Miphone, Bourne’s Texaco, Seals & Engravables, Knightsman Security, Worldtron, Breezes  Montego Bay, Versalles  Hotel in Clarendon,  Golf View Hotel  in Mandeville, Sunset Jamaica Grande, Island Village and the Ruins in Ocho Rios, Electrotech, Spike Industries, Island Pride Soup, Catherine’s Peak Water and Grizzly’s.

The big news in all of this is …. the Original Startime is  about to return to the Jamaican entertainment landscape    with a historic staging to jump-start 2016 …. at the Mas Camp, National Stadium on Saturday  January 9.

Historic because the legendary Queen of Reggae Marcia Griffiths will be celebrating her 51st anniversary in show business with this Startime performance continuing her 50th anniversary world tour which began in 2014 and continues overseas through 2016. This may be the only opportunity for Jamaican showgoers  to see Queen Marcia in all her glory in 2016 due to her heavy overseas commitments.

Here’s your opportunity to come and pay respects to Reggae Royalty, and enjoy another of her unforgettable performances.

For Startime’s upcoming return, Monymusk Plantation Rums with their popular brands (White Overproof, Special Gold, Classic Gold and Whispering Breeze Coconut Rum) have stepped into the headline sponsor role and Commercial Director Richard Stephenson is rather excited about partnering his classic brands with a classic event – a perfect combination if there ever was one.

Kool 97FM is back in its accustomed role as main media sponsor along with exclusive print media sponsor the Jamaica Observer and Creative Training and Production Center (CPTC).

Ting, Happy Ice and Kingston Hireage have joined together with Chung’s Catering Service to ensure that our food concession will meet all customer expectations and demands. There will be a food court operated by Chung’s Catering, and they’re encouraging patrons to come out early to lyme with family and friends and leave the cooking to them …. Chung’s Catering Lyme Time will be   5 – 8pm leading up to showtime.

Starlight Productions will work alongside Michael Barnett, partner Charles Simms and their dedicated team to deliver the usual high quality production that is a hallmark of Startime.

The list of Startime sponsors for January 9 continue with Devon Bourne’s Rubis Service Station, Seals & Engravables, Christar Villas Hotel – the Kingston home of Startime, Securipro who will carry responsibility for security including the spacious Stadium parking area, and Interlinc Communications who host the Startime website at startime.com.jm.
